What happen after a 995 call?

An ambulance with sirens blasting, past my bus on my way home. I remembered the first time someone ask me what I wanted to be, I replied I wanted to be a fireman.

"Station 11, Fire Call,
Turnout PL triple 1, PL Tripe 1
Location *muffled by the siren* "

If I guess correctly, the turnout was on a saturday morning open house which explain the civilians around the station.

For your info, Station 11 is station code for Central Fire Station.
PL Triple 1 is a Pump Ladder appliance code 111.
the first "1" for division number
second "1" for station number
and last "1" for appliance(vehicle) number

You can now identify where the scdf emergency vehicle came from by its number. And pls give way when you see them blasting the siren on the road.

David Marshall Centenary Special

David Marshall, the 1st Chief Minister of Singapore, was an outstanding lawyer during his time. I heard from a friend before, that LKY abolish the jury system because he successfully defended clients who he knew was guilty. My friend was wrong. It is not LKY but David Marshall who has such a charisma and ability to convince. Nevertheless, David Marshall contributed to the many refinements for our law system today.

In fact, I recommending a very nice drama serial, Justice. Too bad, this serial had limited appeal in the US and ended after 12 episodes. It is about some lawyers from a prestigious law firm and how they defend their clients in a murder trial. You could see the really thin line between what appears right and what's wrong. At the end of each series, the truth would be revealed for you to decide if the defendant is really guilty. Trust me, this serial is GOOD!

Catch it on Tudou.com by clicking here.

Quaffs members night @ Thumper

Went to Thumper to enjoy free entry and free flow housepour on saturday night and to meet up with Gee Shing. Quaffs was having a member night there (which explains the good deal at Thumper) and Gee Shing, being one of the organiser, suggest I meet him there. We were suppose to discuss about the upcoming JC gathering.

Aijia, Alina and DT went together with me. Dong was busy on a date..... and don't ask me with who cause we have absolutely no idea. Must had been important enough for Dong to give up on a chill session.

Thumper is situated at Greenwood Park Hotel behind Far East. Nice environment, great band and most importantly, lot of seats to rest a tired butt. Drinks are reasonable priced (we din pay for any from 8-10pm)

Some shots to share... (I din wanna to bring too much so I make do with my IXUS 60)
There was a F1 Grand Prix simulator outside the pub. We din get to try it out but there were a lot of people gathered around it to watch. Our picture was featured in the Thumper Website and it can be found here. Scroll 2/3 down to see our group shot. We left at 11pm to catch a movie "together" while Gee Shing entertain other Quaffs members. Had a great night and will be back there some day.

BUT.... the package didn't include any recording medium. *SWEAT* What's wrong with Sony? Looks like I need to go get some 8'' DVD later. The camcorder also accept Memory Stick Duo.

CNY 2008

I had a muted Chinese New Year this year. No decorations and less red packets.

My family of 4 had steamboat for dinner like every Chinese New Year Eve. The food include fish, pork, scallop and even canned abalone. Yummy! and it's much cleaner to eat at home. That night after dinner, we left for grandma's place in Kulai. Kulai is a small town in the state of Johor, Malaysia. In case you are wondering, it's not the grandma that pass away recently.

Traffic was smooth on the causeway because we checked the traffic online. As usual, at the strike of midnight, the sky above my grandma's place exploded into a frenzy. Like Singapore, fireworks had been outlawed in Malaysia but there is always has a way to get hold of some from the blackmarket.

All the households along my stretch of road are making offerings to the gods to usher them in for the new year. This is part of Chinese tradition to pray for a good year ahead. What's a new year without some gambling action? Look at how my sister and relatives indulge in a good old game of mahjong.
