David Marshall, the 1st Chief Minister of Singapore, was an outstanding lawyer during his time. I heard from a friend before, that LKY abolish the jury system because he successfully defended clients who he knew was guilty. My friend was wrong. It is not LKY but David Marshall who has such a charisma and ability to convince. Nevertheless, David Marshall contributed to the many refinements for our law system today.
In fact, I recommending a very nice drama serial, Justice. Too bad, this serial had limited appeal in the US and ended after 12 episodes. It is about some lawyers from a prestigious law firm and how they defend their clients in a murder trial. You could see the really thin line between what appears right and what's wrong. At the end of each series, the truth would be revealed for you to decide if the defendant is really guilty. Trust me, this serial is GOOD!
